Dual Fellowship Trained Surgeon: Bariatric and Cosmetic Plastic Surgery

Dr. Clayton Frenzel is one of only a handful of surgeons in the country, and the only one in the North Texas including the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex, who is fellowship trained in both Bariatric and Cosmetic Plastic surgery. This unique dual training allows his patients to have a single surgeon and develop a relationship and trust with their doctor.

Dr. Frenzel and his caring staff guide their patients from the pre-bariatric surgery phase through bariatric surgery and finally, if desired, the post-bariatric cosmetic plastic surgery. Being able to follow his patients through the complete transformation gives Dr. Frenzel great joy as he watches his patients become healthier, improve their quality of life, and reach goals that had previously only been dreamt of!

Many patients have described him as “caring, enthusiastic, knowledgeable, and attentive”. From the very first consultation his individualized attention for each person places his patients at ease. Dr. Clayton Frenzel takes his job very seriously and considers it an honor and a privilege when patients choose him - and his patients can tell. Click to learn more.

Lap Band

Laparoscopic’ refers to the fiber optic instrument (the laparascope) surgeons use to view internal organs during the procedure. During surgery, the band - an inflatable silicone device – gets placed on the upper portion of the stomach, limiting the patient’s intake of food and suppressing hunger. The band will not interfere with normal digestion. Read more about Lap Band

Gastric Sleeve

The gastric sleeve, also known as laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy, is a relatively new type of bariatric surgery that is increasing in popularity. It is an excellent weight loss operation and rivals the gastric bypass for weight lost without some of the possible complications of the gastric bypass. This procedure can be performed as a single operation or (in super obese patients) it can serve as a first-stage operation 6-12 months before gastric bypass. Read more about Gastric Sleeve

Gastric Bypass

The gastric bypass is the best weight loss operation for resolving severe or uncontrolled diabetes and hypertension. Candidates for gastric bypass should have good mental health, a BMI of 35 or greater, and should be capable of understanding the risks and benefits involved. The procedure is not recommended for heavy smokers, those with a hyperphagia disorder, or a history of Crohn’s disease. Read more about Gastric Bypass

Band-to-Sleeve Conversion

The gastric band is an excellent surgical procedure to help patients lose weight in a very controlled fashion. Dr. Frenzel’s patients have had tremendous success with the lap band as a tool for weight loss and to date he has never had to remove a band that he put into one of his own patients. However, Dr. Frenzel is a true believer that there is not one operation that is right for everyone. Read more about Lap Band to Gastric Sleeve Conversion
