Breast and Body Lift Post Bariatric Surgery

After undergoing bariatric weight loss surgery, many patients experience unexpected bodily changes.  Dr. Frenzel offer a unique ability to help you in a complete transformation—before, during, and after bariatric surgery.

Post-bariatrc surgery is designed to help you cut away at loose skin that sticks around after rapid weight loss.  Many people experience excess, loose skin around the breasts and tummy.  With dual-fellowship training in bariatric surgery and cosmetic plastic surgery, Dr. Frenzel is trained to help you throughout your entire transformation.

Breast Lift procedures, mastopexy, is designed to lift and reshape the breasts.  If you have gone through bariatric surgery and lost a significant amount of weight, but still suffer with poor self-confidence due to excess skin, allow Dr. Frenzel to help you achieve your goals.  The breast lift gives patients a shapelier figure.

Sagging breasts, also called ptosis, can occur for a variety of reasons including aging, gravity, weight loss, breast feeding, and a decrease in skin elasticity.  It is important for women to understand that this is a common issue with a very popular solution.  Breast lift surgery takes place about 90,000 times a year in the United States alone.  This is different from a breast augmentation; a breast lift is designed to reshape your natural breasts.

In addition to the post-bariatric breast lift procedure, a body lift procedure is also available.  This surgery is commonly used to remove excess skin and tighten the buttocks, hips, and thighs by reshaping the contour of the lower body.

Lower body procedures are popular as post-bariatric solutions.  The body lift tones the underlying tissue that supports skin and fat.  Where there is excess fat and skin, it is removed.  The body lift is beneficial to patients who are looking to correct excess and sagging skin on the buttocks, thighs, and hips and for those who have limited fat deposits in the lower body areas.

It is crucial, just as it is for bariatric surgery, that candidates for the body lift surgery are healthy, non-smokers with good skin elasticity.  When necessary, liposuction or a tummy tuck may also be recommended to obtain the most satisfying results.

Both the breast lift and body lift transform your body after bariatric surgery.  It is important for bariatric patients to understand the reality of post-bariatric body image.  Because of rapid weight loss, patients will have excess, loose skin.  If the elasticity of the skin is not good, cosmetic surgery can be used to further transform your body.

After the breast lift surgery, there will be some scarring on the breasts, but the scars will fade and flatten out over time.  For about six to eight weeks, a supportive bra needs to be worn.  After the body lift procedure, an elastic compression garment is worn to reduce swelling.

After bariatric and post-bariatric surgery, it is necessary for patients to expect scarring.  Though, the scarring will fade and flatten out.  There are risks for both the body lift and breast lift surgeries, but Dr. Frenzel will discuss all of the benefits and risks during the initial consultation.
